Gemma's Me-Ma has been in town helping us out and spending time with the baby. She has been indispensable, doing laundry, cooking meals, cleaning and organizing, grocery shopping, and most importantly taking care of Gemma. She's teaching us new parents a lot about bathing, burping, etc. Without her, I certainly wouldn't be getting any sleep. We love you Me-Ma.
Gemma Lou Smith was born on September 2nd at 1:23 pm. She weighed 7 pounds, 14 ounces and was 20 inches long. She was born by c-section due to complications during labor. That’s why she has a perfectly shaped head. When she was born, her umbilical cord was tied in a knot and wrapped around her shoulder. During contractions, her heart rate would dip dangerously low so Dr. Weiner ordered the c-section. The midwife told us she hasn’t seen a birth like that in three years and that she must be meant for great things. We agree.
