Last weekend Jim, Noreen, Kitty and Claire came to see Gemma and brought her some very sweet presents. Here she is with her guests and in one of the darling outfits they brought her.

Gemma's Me-Ma has been in town helping us out and spending time with the baby. She has been indispensable, doing laundry, cooking meals, cleaning and organizing, grocery shopping, and most importantly taking care of Gemma. She's teaching us new parents a lot about bathing, burping, etc. Without her, I certainly wouldn't be getting any sleep. We love you Me-Ma.

Our dear friend Emily and her boyfriend Mark came over the day we got home from the hospital. It was so nice to see them and Emily brought her camera. Here are some of the pictures she took.

Gemma’s Grandma Seal got her a “woombie” which makes her look like a little peanut. She’s so cute in it, I thought the woombie deserved it’s own post. Here she is in the hospital swaddled in it.

Gemma Lou Smith was born on September 2nd at 1:23 pm. She weighed 7 pounds, 14 ounces and was 20 inches long. She was born by c-section due to complications during labor. That’s why she has a perfectly shaped head. When she was born, her umbilical cord was tied in a knot and wrapped around her shoulder. During contractions, her heart rate would dip dangerously low so Dr. Weiner ordered the c-section. The midwife told us she hasn’t seen a birth like that in three years and that she must be meant for great things. We agree.
